FreshPet issues a voluntary dog ​​food recall

FreshPet voluntarily recovered some of the dog food that was to be scrapped, but was mistakenly sent to some Target and Walmart stores.

The food in question is a lot of Fresh Pet Select Fresh From The Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe (4.5 lbs bag), sold on 10/29/22, and recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. US Food and Drug Administration.

As in humans, Salmonella can make animals sick, and handling or contacting contaminated products poses a risk to humans, especially children, the elderly, and immunodeficiency. If you have recalled food, throw it away.

Dogs with Salmonella infection are lethargic and may have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some dogs only reduce loss of appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but healthy dogs are carriers and can infect other animals and humans. If your dog consumes the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The recalled food was to be disposed of, but could have been accidentally shipped and sold at a limited number of Wal-Mart and Target Stores in Pennsylvania.

Other Freshpet products or lot codes are not affected by this recall. To date, Freshpet has not received any reports of illness, injury or side effects.
