Detroit (AP) —Ford is recalling nearly 250,000 large pickup trucks in the United States because drive shafts can be damaged and lose power.
The recall is intended for specific F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups from 2017 to 2022 models. The truck is equipped with a gasoline engine and an aluminum drive shaft.
In a document posted by the National Road Safety Authority, Ford states that the heat and noise insulation underneath the body can loosen and touch the drive shaft. The shaft can be damaged, losing power, or losing control if it hits the ground.
In the event of a failure, the truck can roll even if the truck is stopped and the parking brake is not applied.
The dealer will inspect the drive shaft, repair it if necessary, and install the insulation properly. Owners will be notified by letter from April 4th.
Ford’s F-series pickup truck has been the best-selling car in the United States for many years
