Earlier Thursday, a fire broke out in the apartment building, evacuating more than 12 people.

Firefighters responded to the property with a report of a fire in the apartment building at 639 N. Second St. shortly after 5:40 am. The call was immediately upgraded to a building fire that fired two alarms.

Assistant fire chief Daniel Kleemann said firefighters had arrived to find a fire behind a three-story building. All the residents were out when they arrived, he added.

The fire was extinguished in about 80 minutes. No one was injured.

The American Red Cross is helping 14 people in the apartment at the time of the fire, disaster service responder Daniel Boris said on the scene.
