Fire brigade fights fire on Penwine rooftop solar panels – Mainline Media News

LOWER MERION — The crew of several Lower Merion and Narberth firefighting companies responded to reports of burning solar panels on the roof of the house Thursday afternoon.

According to people familiar with the matter, the phone arrived at 3:48 pm at a house in 400 blocks of Ballito Aroad in Pennwine. The crew of Penn Wynne, Narberth, Merion Fire Brigade in Ardmore, Union Fire Association, and Fire Department arrived at the scene immediately.

Additional crew members from Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, and Belmont Hills were also sought help as the crew began to work to control the fire.

Firefighters secured electricity to the panels, reached the roof, and used railings to extinguish the fire. I removed the panel from the roof and checked the inside to see if the fire was spreading.

There were no signs that the fire had spread and all fire brigades were available at 5:12 pm.

Firefighters stayed at the scene to complete the investigation and became available at 5:43 pm.

No injuries have been reported.
