Finally, the Mayor rooted in the Red Sox – Reading Eagle

Mayor Adams was rooting for the home team on Friday — although he wasn’t a true fan of the test.

Adams, a supporter of the Mets from the beginning of the team, said he would draw the Yankees before playing the Boston Red Sox in the opening round. It was the choice of his predecessor, former Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“I want a subway series, do you know? Save money here in New York. The championship team makes millions of dollars and feeds the economy from restaurant workers and tourism. I’m hiring someone, “he said when he appeared at the Brian Lehrer show at WNYC. “That’s why I want the Yankees and Mets of the World Series.”

During the eight years that De Blasio was mayor, Red Sox fans, who were at the top of the time, refused to step into Yankee Stadium and announced in February 2021 that the stadium would be used as a COVID vaccination site. I made that rule an exception only once.

While Adams said he was a fan of the Mets and was rooting for the Yankees on Friday, he clarified where his loyalty was at an event in the subway series between Amazine and the Bronx bomber.

“I’m a regular fan of Mets. I still remember being with my family who won the World Series in 1969,” he told Lehrer. “I will continue to support the New York Mets.”
