Exeter Ethan Lymart wins District 3 Bowling Championship

Ethan Laimart wasn’t happy with the five-game qualifying block at the District 3 Bowling Championships in Harrisburg’s ABC North Lane on Saturday.

“I didn’t check the rankings very much, but I didn’t think I made it to the final,” he said. “I was surprised when they announced my name.”

Exeter’s senior, Reimert, took full advantage of his opportunity to win three games and win the district championship.

“It makes a lot of sense because I’ve never won a high school tournament,” he said. “So it’s pretty big for me.”

Lymart defeated Cumberland Valley freshman Matthew Pomian 193-172 in the title after overcoming some adversity in a championship match.

He threw the first ball in the fifth frame into the gutter when he slipped off his hand, but he recovered well with a spare. He had the eighth open frame before Pomian did the same.

Reimert finished powerfully with three strikes, 9th and 10th.

“I thought I ended up with 8 mistakes (8th frame),” he said.

Reimart finished in qualifying with a total of 1,057, just three pins ahead of Penmanor Derekwafell. When he rolled 178 in the third game, he thought he might be in trouble.

“It was a great disappointment for me,” he said.

Reimert clicked in the final, defeating Darren Zombro III of Cedar Crest 255-208 in the semi-finals and defeating Antietam 280-212’s 2021 runner-up Ayden Davis in the semi-finals.

“I was trapped for those two games,” he said. “I kept bowling the same line, and it seemed to work.”

Junior Davis came in second with a total of 1,138. Only two Burks bowlers participated in the final. Wilson’s Adam Gehr was in 9th place.

Last year, Reimert was an average of 226 all-barks selections, leading Exeter to runner-up in BCIAA and eastern Pennsylvania.

This year he was once again nominated for the All Barks team, averaging 213 in the league and helping the Eagles regain second place at BCIAA. He finished fifth in the BCIAA Individual Tournament.

No Burks bowler was in the women’s stepladder final, which was won by Senior Madison Brennemann of Central York.

Governor Mifflin’s senior Andria Addis finished 7th in qualifying and was unable to make it to the final with 4 pins. Frankie Kelly of Mullenberg was in 9th place.
