Phillies postpone Thursday’s home opener vs. Reds to Friday

NEW YORK—In anticipation of rain, the Phillies announced Wednesday that they have rescheduled Thursday’s home opener against the Cincinnati Reds. Gates open at 12:35 PM.

“Following discussions with Major League Baseball and an uncertain forecast for tomorrow from 3-7 p.m., we have moved our home opener against the Reds to Friday,” Phillies executive vice president David Buck said in a statement. “Open dates allow us to reschedule games for our fans.”

The 2022 National League Champions pennant will be handed out to all fans on Friday, and the Phillies will hold a ceremony on the field. Tickets and parking purchased before Thursday’s game are valid for admission to Friday’s home opener. The pregame celebration will begin at 2:15 p.m., according to the Phillies.

The Phillies came home losing five of their first six games. It’s the first time since his 2007 that they started seasons 1-5. They closed out his three-game series against the Yankees on Wednesday with a 4-2 loss.
