After waiting nearly 52 years to find out who killed their beloved teacher, the family of Rita Curran and the community of Milton, Vermont, have finally found the answer. Curran was just 24 years old and a teacher at Milton Elementary School when she was sexually assaulted and murdered in her Burlington apartment on July 19, 1971. Her case kept her sober for over 50 years until a DNA test brought her back to life.
