Wilkes-Barre — A man from Binghamton, NY. He called himself a “dirty old man” while talking to a 15-year-old boy and was convicted of illegal contact with a minor in Luzerne County Court on Monday.
Eric Ryan Gonzalez, 36, has been pleaed in front of Judge Joseph F. Sclaroski Jr.
According to court records, Kingston police arrested Gonzales after having an online conversation with a detective disguised as a teenage boy from September 21st to October 9th, 2020.
According to court records, Gonzales started the conversation by saying “Hey” on a social media site. Gonzales wrote to the boy: Smile. I’m mainly looking for friends, and even a third, “says court records.
Gonzales was accused of asking for a picture of the boy, and after receiving the picture he replied “cutie.” Smile. Do you want to hug me? According to court records.
According to court records, Gonzales said he wanted to be cautious, sending emojis commonly used to describe certain body parts, adding, “Sorry, I’m a dirty old man.”
Gonzales was arrested when he decided to travel to the area with a plan to meet the boy.
Prosecutors withdrew their second count of illegal contact with Gonzales for minor criminal use of communications facilities.
Sklarosky ordered Gonzales to be evaluated by the State Sex Offenders Evaluation Board before being sentenced to August 11.
Gonzales remains free with a $ 50,000 bail.
