DOYLESTOWN >> The Delaware Valley University Board has elected veteran educator and administrator Dr. Benjamin E. Luciroski as the 14th President of the University.

Dr. Rusiloski has worked for DelVal for over 25 years and has led the launch of Experience 360, the university’s nationally recognized experiential learning program. He recently served as interim president of Del Val.

“Dr. Rusiloski’s work in experiential learning really stood out to us throughout the search process,” said Majid Alsayegh, president of the university. “As we celebrate 125 years of providing students with both knowledge and related real-world experiences, the University of Delaware Valley sought a leader who could continue to develop its heritage.” He is truly passionate about the mission of “Science with Practice” and is committed to preparing students for success after graduation. “

Dr. Rusiloski brings a wealth of experience in higher education leadership to this position.

Prior to becoming Interim President in June 2021, Dr. Luciroski was Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs. Prior to that, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Biophysical Sciences. In that role, Dr. Luciroski was responsible for overseeing all academic affairs, including program development, evaluation, capacity building, and strategic planning of the Faculty of Life Physics.

Dr. Rusiloski joined Del Val’s faculty in 1994 as an assistant professor of chemistry. Since then, he has served as a professor, chaired two faculties, dean of the Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences, dean of the VPAA and faculties, and interim president.

As Dean, Dr. Luciroski was a Principal Investigator with a $ 707,569 award from the National Science Foundation and a $ 150,000 gift from the Mandel Foundation used to refurbish five on-campus scientific laboratories. In addition, he helped secure funding from Bristol Myers Squibb to support student research.

Dr. Rusiloski led the development and implementation of DelVal’s Signature Experience 360 ​​program. Featuring DelVal education, this program leverages real-world experience and employer feedback to prepare students for success as young professionals. The National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) has selected the Experience360 program as an excellent experiential learning program for 2019.

The search committee, chaired by Del Val’s trustee, Kate Littlefield, includes board representatives, some of whom are also graduates. Undergraduate; Presidential Cabinet; and staff. The committee has partnered with top search firm Storbeck Search. During the summer, the team gathered feedback from a wide range of stakeholders and selected Dr. Luciroski from a large number of applicants. “The search committee interviewed many candidates and found the most suitable individual to lead the institution at this particular time,” said Littlefield. “Dr. Rusiloski’s extensive knowledge and commitment to Del Val, his positive interpersonal skills, and his respect among all his supporters lead him to success.”

Dr. Rusiloski succeeds Dr. Maria Gallo, who served as president from 2016 to March 2021.

Dr. Luciroski, a longtime resident of Doylestown, looks forward to continuing to serve the community in which he lives and works.
