Later this month, David Bowie Estate will launch Bowie 75, a year-long celebration to commemorate David Bowie’s 75th birthday, opening with the opening of two handpicked hands-on pop-up shops. One is at the earliest confirmed sightings of Ziggy Stardust, the birthplace of London, and the other is Bowie’s adoption, where his final album, Blackstar, was created. It’s in my hometown.
The pop-up provides visitors with a unique and immersive career that delves into the sound and vision of the legendary artist, but only from October 25th to late October, 75 days before he counted that number of candles. January 2022 only in the window. The Bowie 75 location operates on 150 Worcester Street, just a short walk from Bowie’s long-standing downtown New York City district and 14 Heddon Street in SoHo. And a spider from Mars was shot. NYC Pop-up is open 7 days a week from 11am to 7pm.
Each pop-up attraction includes an immersive audio and HD video screening room in partnership with 360 Reality Audio, a musical experience using Sony’s spatial sound technology. This allows fans to hear and view Bowie content for the first time in immersive audio, limited to Bowie 75 locations. There’s also hours of video content, including behind-the-scenes material never seen before, and rare footage from the “Heathon” and “Reality” eras.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition of Bowie’s apparel and collection, including limited edition LPs and CDs from both the Warner / Parlophone and Sony catalogs. There are exclusive fine art photographs, including gallery installations, that document Bowie’s many times, personas, and the changes he has transformed throughout his career. Fans can also wear iconic outfits and set pieces for sharing throughout social media.
After a three-month pop-up, an intimate special guest event will be announced. All of these are published on bowie75.com, and fans can also sign up to receive email updates.
This week’s vinyl
Keep an eye out for this place as we look at new or upcoming vinyls from different artists each week. It could be a breakthrough recording, a special edition, or a repress of a new collection from a legendary act. This week is the fourth LP from a favorite of British alternative rock.
The Charlatans:’The Charlatans’
The Charlatans decided to make their fourth effort a self-titled release, which was released at the height of the 1995 Britpop explosion. This is the most ambitious and focused album ever in British costume and charts. The album also peaked in 12th place with three UK top 40 singles “Crashin’In”, “Just Lookin'” and “Just When You’re Thinkin’Things Over”.
The label Beggars Arkive has now released a reissue of “The Charlatans” pressed into marble double yellow vinyl with Gatefold sleeves. It hasn’t been pressed on vinyl for over 20 years, but this time the audio has been transferred to 96khz / 24-bit and Frank Arkwright of Abbey Road Studios is mastering the vinyl.
When the Charlatans began, there were countless bands with somewhat similar sounds, but they soon jumped to the forefront of the Madchester scene, standing side by side with icons such as The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. Despite meeting many American music fans at the peak of Britpop, the band was more of an alternative rock than anything else. They were also tagged with the Monica “The Charlatans UK” on this side of the pond because of an act from the San Francisco psychedelic rock scene of the 1960s with the same name.
The band continues to succeed because it not only allows them to ride the groove, but also writes great songs. These are our time, through tragedy and stylistic changes, accumulating great works that are modern enough to play in clubs, yet classicists enough to withstand the challenges of time. Was the gift that made them among the greatest British survivors of. Things that continue to grow to this day. They made 13 top 40 studio albums (three of them chart toppers) and 22 hit singles, four of which notched the top ten.
“The Charlatans” was ranked 84th in the Top 100 albums of the melody maker’s full-time list since 2000, and UK Select Magazine ranked in the Top 30 of the year it was released. We call it “ring”. A wonderful swirl of multi-layer guitars and organs, this is a blur of a positive atmosphere that sends your heart through the ceiling.
Reissues of The Charlatans can be found online and at all fine retailers’ stores dealing with vinyl.
