Lehigh County Coroners Office Confirmed 10 year old boy shot at Thanksgiving He died of a gunshot wound in Hereford Township.
According to First Deputy Coroner Daniel Buglio, an autopsy performed on Saturday showed that the victim had died from a gunshot wound on his body.
He said the method of death awaits further investigation by state police and the Berks County District Law Firm.
Paramedics were dispatched to 8500 blocks on Chestnut Street around 1:45 pm on Thursday to receive reports of a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot in a wooded area about 100 feet away from the road.
According to Troopers, a nearby person fired three bullets from a rifle at a homemade target in his possession. The ammunition passed through the target and attacked the boy, the soldiers said.
The boy and the person who fired the rifle have not been identified.
The ambulance was right there, and the crew took the boy from the woods to the ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Sea Dark Rest near Allentown.
According to Buglio, the boy was sentenced to death at the hospital at 2:54 pm.
Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said on Friday Determining what happened was still in the early stages of the investigation.
“This is a very tragic situation,” he said. “We haven’t reached any conclusions at this point and are waiting for further results from the investigation to finally determine what happened.
“We need to evaluate the evidence to determine if the price is appropriate and what the appropriate price is,” he added.
