New plans to reorganize Polish schools into three buildings

OHIO, POLAND (WKBN) – After dozens of briefings on potential ideas, school administrators in Poland have decided on one option for the future of their school district.

“Now what we want to do is phase two, show them what the security deposit will pay,” said superintendent Craig Hockenberry.

Hockenberry said the plan includes a new K-5 building on the site of North Elementary School, 6-8 Middle School on College Street, and a new high school on the site of what is now Polish Theological Seminary.

He argues that public opinion has little support for an all-in-one campus and would have failed in the polls.

“It’s a tough decision either way, but we’re trying to get rid of the potentially negative layers,” Hockenberry said.

Voters will be asked to approve a $100 million bond issue, with the state paying 16-18% of the total cost. A $212,000 home owner would pay $839 in additional taxes annually. A $600,000 home has an additional tax of $2,300 annually.

Meanwhile, Hockenberry says the district has been plagued with maintenance and repair problems. I was forced to take him to a junior high school where I was born. The problem is that McKinley is forced to shut down. on friday.

According to Hockenberry, the school district spends $100,000 a year fixing problems at the closed North and Union elementary schools, and the high school needs a new $2 million roof.

“This money piles up and has to be pulled out of the General Fund,” Mr. Hockenberry said.

Hockenberry said the school board will hold a retreat next month to discuss how to move forward.
