Retired Pennsylvania firefighter Robert Sanford was found guilty of assaulting a police officer during the Jan. 6 riots.

(WJET/WFXP/YourErie.com) — A former Chester, Pennsylvania firefighter was found guilty Tuesday of assaulting a member of law enforcement with a dangerous weapon during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Robert Sanford, 57, was sentenced to 52 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release, $2,000 in compensation to the designers of the Capitol, and medical bills, according to his release from the District of Columbia’s U.S. Attorney’s Office. was awarded $3,798 in damages to of the US Capitol police officer he injured.
