Pensacola, Florida (AP) — A man in California was arrested for threatening to kill Congressman Matt Gaetz days after the January parliamentary riot, court records show.
Officials said 58-year-old Eugene Hulsman was arrested in the Los Angeles area last week. He was indicted in a federal court in Florida in May.
Huelsman of Thousand Oaks was charged with intimidating Gates and his family by calling the Republican Florida office on January 9. The indictment only mentions Huelsman’s alleged target as MG, but a Gaetz spokesman confirmed that the House of Representatives was the target of the threat.
Huelsman’s lawyer was not listed in court records. Huelsman’s phone number was not listed in public records. He will appear in federal court in Pensacola, Florida on Friday.
