Body found off the coast of South Bethlehem Greenway

Police and the Coroners Office in Northampton County were called on Sunday night to report the body of a man found in South Bethlehem.

Captain Nicholas P. Lekman of the Bethlehem police said on Monday that residents had found the body in the woodlands between Hayes and Buchanan streets around 8 pm on Sunday. The area is on the South Bethlehem Greenway Trail, not far from Steel Stacks.

Lechmann said the man seemed to have been there for a while.

“There is no suspected misconduct at this time and no danger to the general public,” said Lekman. “The situation is clear, but the investigation is underway in collaboration with the Northampton County Coroners Office.

Wake-up contacted the coroner’s office for more information. The coroner’s office will determine the cause and method of death and notify the family.
