Boardman, Ohio ends 4th of July celebrations with canceled fireworks at park

Boardman, Ohio (WKBN) – Hundreds of people gathered on the lawn of Boardman Park on Saturday evening to cap off a week of fireworks-free Independence Day celebrations.

Food truck stalls and a concert by the Salem Quaker City Band preceded the fireworks, but were canceled due to rain. A rainy day has not yet been decided.

The annual celebration has been going on for decades. This year, we honored the former Executive Director of Boardman Township Park. Dan Slaglewho recently passed away after spending 50 years with the park.

Recreation director Karen McCallum said she loves seeing people come together to celebrate.

“People, the synergy that everyone creates. I love having families come and have picnics, see bands, play chalk, visit different communities and have fun,” said McCallum. rice field.

Boardman Township Park will once again host fireworks on Boardman Community Day on September 9th.
