Pennsylvania school bus hits black ice and crashes

School bus crashes in Mifflin County

A school bus slid off an icy road and crashed Tuesday morning in Mifflin County. The crash occurred around 7:00 am on Perchwood Drive near Ferguson Valley Road. There were three students on the bus when the accident happened. Mifflin County School District Superintendent Vance Verner said the bus hit black ice as it headed for the gorge, then went down an embankment and landed in a tree, preventing it from capsizing. I couldn’t get out of the bus. So they got out from behind. Several people following the bus, including one of her who happened to be a high school nurse, called 911 for him and helped everyone crawl out of the bus. No one was taken to hospital. All students attend Strodes Mills Elementary School.

A school bus skidded off an icy road Tuesday morning and crashed in Mifflin County.

The accident occurred around 7:00 am on Perchwood Drive near Ferguson Valley Road.

There were three students on the bus when the accident happened.

Mifflin County School District superintendent Vance Verner said the bus hit black ice as it headed for the canyon, went down an embankment, and landed on a tree that prevented it from rolling.

Students and drivers were unable to get off the front of the bus. So they got out from behind.

Several people following the bus, including one who happened to be a high school nurse, called 911 and helped everyone crawl out of the bus.

All students were released by their parents. No one was taken to hospital.

All students attend Strode Mills Elementary School.
