Bet on More WWE Shocks in Philadelphia

It took WWE just one day of the new year to spring a major shock. Those who had bet on Brock Lesnar winning the Universal Title had a big surprise in store at the Day 1 PPV on January 1. Lesnar instead became the WWE Champion and could well be on his way to Philadelphia on January 10.

That’s when WWE hold their Monday Night Raw live television show at the Wells Fargo Arena. It promises to be a special night with many of the top WWE superstars (as they love to call them) making appearances.

One event that will take place in 2021 is the legalization of mobile sports betting in New York. Punters will be able to make bets on all the top sporting action such as the NFL, NBA, NHL and even WWE. There will be plenty of BetMGM NY offers for them to enjoy after all these years of waiting.

The crowning of Brock Lesnar as WWE Champion has really shaken things up in the company. It’s an important time for WWE with the Royal Rumble at the end of this month and the biggest show of te year, WrestleMania 38 at the start of April.

It seemed as If all the plans were for Brock Lesnar to continue his feud with Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The champion has held the title since August 30, 2020, when beating ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. This month is likely to see him beat the longest ever Universal title reign. That’s 503 days by Lesnar between April 2017 and August 2019.

Reigns dominated Smackdown throughout 2021 but was unable to fight at ‘Day 1’ after testing positive for Covid-19. Sportsbooks had him at short odds to beat Lesnar and the plans were for them to meet again at WrestleMania, where Lesnar would most likely win the title.

Well, how that is going to happen now is anyone’s guess. The decision was mad to put Lesnar in a five-man match for the WWE title. He dethroned the champion Big E. who few expected to be losing the belt on the first day of the new year.

Now what route to WrestleMania do WWE take?  The Raw event in Philadelphia will be the second of the new year. What happens on January 3 will have a huge influence on the events that will take place in Philadelphia.

Big E. had been known primarily as a tag team wrestler with The New Day. Winning the WWE title in 2021 was a massive step forward for him. The odds were short on him remaining the champion at the ‘Day 1’ PPV. Then came Lesnar and everything has changed for him.

Could we see Lesnar stay on Raw and forget about his feud with Roman Reigns. If he does, where does that leave the Universal champion? The chances of securing a dream match against The Rock are slim. Drew McIntyre is a possible contender for his title. Might we see a title unification match at WrestleMania? It could always end in a disqualification win that would see both champions retain their titles.

For many years, there has been talk of a Lesnar v Lashley feud. That could well be the match that fans will find themselves betting on at WrestleMania 38 in April. Lashley has spoken of his desire to take on Lesnar. Could the Raw held in Philadelphia see moves in that direction? You can bet on all hell breaking loose if it does.

What else looks likely to be happening at the Wells Fargo Center on January 10?  With the Royal Rumble on its way, look for wrestlers to be announcing their participation in the match. All will be boasting they can defy the odds and be the last man (or woman as there are now separate matches) standing and win a title shot at WrestleMania.  Perhaps it might be Lashley who wins that match to get his title match with Lesnar?

The feud between Edge and Miz is far from over. More mayhem could be on the way on January 10. The odds on an intergender tag between Edge and Beth Phoenix against The Miz and Maryse are looking good for the future.

Perhaps this might be the show when we see AJ Styles up against his former tag partner Omos? Raw tag team champions Randy Orton and the increasingly irritating Riddle are likely to be in action. Then there’s Raw Women’s champion Becky Lynch. Will Liv Morgan get another title shot or a new contender be found? There’s plenty left in the Lynch v Bianca Belair feud.

It’s at this time of the year almost anything could happen in WWE. Lesnar winning the WWE title might be the first of many shocks this month and they could happen at the Wells Fargo Center on January 10.
