At least 18 children and a teacher were killed when gunmen fired at an elementary school in Texas, officials said. Officials said the shooter was killed on the scene by law enforcement officials.

Two law enforcement sources told CBS News that the suspect had a pistol, an AR-15 assault rifle, and a large magazine.

According to UvaldeCISD Police Chief Pedro Arredondo, the school teaches second, third and fourth grade students.

Aledondo confirmed that the suspect had died and said investigators believed he had acted alone.

President Biden accused the shooting in a speech on Tuesday night.

The Yuvarde Memorial Hospital previously said it had accepted 13 children for treatment from ambulances and buses, and two who arrived at the hospital died. The second hospital said that both the 66-year-old woman and the 10-year-old girl were in crisis, the 10-year-old girl was in good condition, and the 9-year-old girl was in fair condition. Condition.
