Philadelphia man shot dead by Home Invaders after shopping with family in Philadelphia, Philadelphia

An investigation is underway after a Philadelphia man was shot dead by a home intruder after shopping with his family.

Espolito Sanchez, 37, arrived at his home along the 7700 block of Fairfield Street around 8 p.m. Sunday with his wife and four children.

Police said the suspect ransacked the house and stole cash and jewelry. They pushed Sanchez to the kitchen floor, told him to stand up, and shot him in the head before fleeing the scene.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m.

Weapons were recovered, but no arrests were made. Police say the motive appears to be robbery.

“It really hit me and this whole neighborhood, because it’s never been like this before,” neighbor Claudia Asceti told NBC10. “I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 46 years. This is the first time something like this has happened.”
