Ambersey sets club records and Gittens helps rail riders power their rail riders by defeating Iron Pigs 10-2

Chris Gittens has authoritatively announced his return. Tray Ambersey made history. And the 1st place Rail Riders quickly returned to the winning line.

The Gittens finished 4-6 with doubles and RBIs, and Amburgey based in 33 consecutive games to help Scranton / Wilkes-Barre hit Lehigh Valley 10-2 on Thursday in Allentown. Reached and set a franchise record.

After a stint with the New York Yankees, Gittens returned to the lineup, first and third baseman, with hits in each of the first three at-bats.

Ambersey didn’t waste his time taking a walk the night before and breaking the record. He finished the day with a double, two RBIs and two steps from the cleanup spot.

All of this led to an impressive rebound from a 3-2 defeat to Iron Pigs in the 12 innings the night before, scoring eight consecutive wins for the RailRiders.

Despite dragging 1-0 after one inning on Thursday, Estevan Florial tied it to a fielder’s choice grounder who recorded a run in the second top. After that, Florial scored Scranton / Wilkes-Barre (30-12), the fourth best RBI single after Gittens’ own RBI single.

Former Yankee infielder Didi Gregorius won IronPigs in the 5th inning with a 3-2 run in the RBI double, but RailRiders pulled away in the 6th and 7th innings.

Ambersey ran twice, driving in the sixth double and scoring in Socrates Brito’s single.

Brito continued his seventh hit parade with a two-run single, and Derek Dietrich scored with another two-run single in the frame.

Nick Nelson made a spot start on the Rail Riders, winning in five innings, walking three, hitting three and giving up two runs with three hits.

Darren O’Day, Adam Warren and Brian Keller combined four shutout innings to hit three hits.

RailRiders took two of the first three games in the series. This continues in Allentown on Friday at 7:05 pm.
