Fire rips through apartment building in Lancaster County, Pa.

A fire that destroyed a Lancaster County apartment building Tuesday night spread very quickly after it hit the gas tank of a car that was backed up against the structure.Dispatchers said the call came in just after 11:30 p.m. for the apartments on East Main Street/Route 322 in Ephrata. One of them was a Marine Corps veteran who told WGAL reporter Barbara Barr that firefighters were able to save some of his precious Marine Corps belongings.The property management company was on site as well as the restoration company. The building is being boarded up and secured. The Red Cross has been helping tenants who didn’t have a place to go. The apartment building had 12 units.
