A man shot in a crowded reading bar | News

Reading police charged a man in Pottstown with firing at a crowded city bar over the weekend, injuring a man in his leg.

Bruce D. Clydel, 38, 400 blocks on Walnut Street, has been accused of assault, reckless danger, and firearms on Saturday night in Pen Street Tavern (220 Pen Street).

According to the city police:

Just before 10:30 pm, an officer was dispatched for shooting. The victim was taken to the trauma center at Reading Hospital due to a wound on his left upper leg.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and confirmed the images from the security cameras.

Witnesses identified Clydel as a shooter, saying he entered the bar at least 15 minutes before shooting. A short loud quarrel caught the attention of witnesses. Witnesses reported seeing Clydel pulling the gun from the right and pointing it at another person.

The three witnesses heard the gunshots three times, saw the muzzle of the gun blink, and saw Clydel run behind the bar.

The video footage confirmed the witness’s account and showed that Clydel was pulling a gun around at least 20 other patrons.

Due to his criminal history, including exacerbations of robbery and assault, Clydel is forbidden to carry a gun.

If you have information about Clydel’s whereabouts, please call Reading Police (610-655-6116 or 9-1-1).
