Pittsburgh (KDKA)-The first of more than 12 100-ton beams for the new Fern Hollow Bridge will begin arriving in Pittsburgh today.
Delivery of these beams is expected to cause traffic delays.
Starting today, the Pennsylvania crew is expected to deliver the beams and roll closures of the road throughout the process.
PennDOT states that 14 of the 21 beams will be transported from Blair County to the Lishill side of the site.
Drivers are advised to reroute to avoid traffic issues as it takes time to travel through these huge beams.
Liang follows National Highway 28 and the Veterans Bridge to Crosstown Boulevard. Then they travel along the boulevards of their allies to Forbes Avenue.
When Beam arrives in the city, police will escort them to Forbes and South Dallas Avenue when they arrive at their destination.
According to PennDOT, the plan is to deliver two beams a day on weekdays.
Mayor Gainy will provide up-to-date information on the progress of the construction project this afternoon.
Gainy will be attended by Pennsylvania executives around 1:30 pm
The briefing will be streamed live on KDKA.com and CBSNewsPittsburgh. Click here to adjust.
